About the Global Tea Championship

The Global Tea Championship is an independent competition judged by industry professionals which helps establish standards of excellence in the tea industry through an acclaimed and professional evaluation of the best tasting specialty teas of the highest quality.

The event judges score the teas through an organoleptic analysis that includes the analysis of dry leaf, liquor colour, aroma, flavour, and mouth feel, as well as overall harmony. Ripple White Tea was rated as a “beautiful leaf with exceptional flavour and exceptional aroma”.

Our brand Ripple Tea ranked number 1 in the Loose White Tea category, selected by a panel of three international judges. The tea was placed at the second position based on the points scored on a 100 point scale. It is noteworthy there there was no Gold Medal awarded for the particular category.

Our MD and CEO K Mathew Abraham said that the award for Ripple White tea which is produced from the finest selection of handpicked tea buds and retails at Rs 12,000 per kg is a vindication of the company’s concerted efforts in producing some of finest specialty teas from its tea plantations spread across Munnar, ranging from an elevation of 4000 to 7200 feet.

Combining 16 state of the art tea manufacturing facilities in Munnar, KDHP, one of the largest producer-exporter from South India, produces 25 million kg of tea annually. This makes it the largest manufacturer and exporter of tea in South India as well as one of the biggest players in the industry on a pan-India level as well. To meet the growing demand for specialty teas, the company sells their range of teas through the various “Chai Bazaar” Ripple Tea outlets in Munnar, and also through retail shops.
